A CHAT WITH RASCAL

Q: WHAT WAS IT THAT DREW YOU INTO ELECTRONIC MUSIC?
A:
I was infatuated by electronic music through underground hip hop and experimenting with all styles of music production since 2004. I have always had a soft spot for hip hop but found a new love for underground dance music from 2006 through ministry of sound and mixing vinyl with an old school friend. I knew I wanted to deejay as soon as I touched a record and have not stopped since :)

Q: HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR YOUR SETS?
A:
I will typically find some records I really want to play and have them in the forefront of my mind/usb/record bag. I don't really like to do too much planning as you never know what the crowd might be up for. In saying that, it's always good to be organised to deal with whatever is thrown your way. To do this, I always carry a variety of music with me I know works for most people in different scenarios.

Q: WHAT DO YOU VALUE AS THE MOST IMPORTANT TOOL IN A DJ ARSENAL?
A:
Probably my own edits and acapellas in a folder named "TOOLS" on my usbs. There is always something in there to set aside my set to be a little different to what most people will be typically playing.

Q: WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST SPECIAL PERFORMANCE AS A DJ SO FAR?
A:
I'd have to say warming up for Archie Hamilton at a FLUX party and then playing B2B with him at Capulet. Good times we're had 🫶🏻

Q: WHAT'S IN THE PIPELINE FOR RASCAL?
A:
I am currently working on a lot of new music to see the light in the near future. As of last Friday, I just had my first release come out on Berlin based label "ZAPPED". Here's the link to check it out :) https://smrtlnk.app/e1a46c45-f033-412b-960a-13bf0d104c32
